river bank in the Fall

I’m broke AF, and I still feel like the luckiest woman on earth

The river called me outside today, and I’m so f*ing grateful that I answered!

Why? Because it’s cozy sweater weather, the Fall leaves are at their most vibrant and still on the trees, the river is so calm you can see things reflected in it, no bugs, no forest fire smoke, no crowds, no sunburn…it’s as close to a perfect day as possible.

It’s cloudy, but that made it possible for me to see the screen on my tablet, so I could do my homework outside while listening to a badass Viking playlist in my headphones. SO much better than sitting in a dark, cramped basement, or stuck in an office all day.

I walked along the river with zero pain in this out-of-shape, amazing body of mine.

After I finished doing my homework, I walked the few steps to the Hearth Restaurant in the Remai Arts Centre and had the most AMAZING sandwich I’ve ever had. When you’re on a diet of packaged and fast food, you forget what food with actual flavour tastes like. I had almost forgotten what it was like to nourish my body, instead of just quieting the hunger.

Around the time that I started eating the heaven-sent sandwich, the sun broke through the clouds and was shining right on me. The tables in the restaurant were all taken, so I was seated on a loveseat by a floor-to-ceiling window. It was like the sun came out to give me a great big hug.

Moments like today’s make me feel like the luckiest woman in the world! My goal is to have more of them.
